Hi, I'm Derick

I fell in love with programming before fully understanding what "software engineering" even meant. Moving to Taiwan for college later on opened my mind, not just to new places and people, but to new ways of thinking about learning and building.

Back in high school, I started coding through competitive programming and even gave Google Kick Start a try. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a puzzle addiction. I loved the process of thinking, failing, and slowly making things work.

Around the same time, "day in the life of a software engineer" videos on YouTube made building software feel real and achievable. That was when programming stopped being just an interest and started becoming a direction.

Today, I enjoy turning abstract ideas into real systems and learning how things work under the hood. When I am not coding, I am usually at the gym or playing badminton to reset before the next problem.

I am still learning, still building, and enjoying the process along the way.
